Commitment to Representation
1. ASC's Representation (ASC, 2022):
- Diverse technical committees include seniors, youth, Indigenous peoples, visible minorities, and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals.
- Persons with disabilities (58%) and women (52%) make up significant portions of ASC’s membership.
- This level of representation is among the best in Canada, if not the world.
2. SCC's Gender-Responsiveness (SCC, 2024B):
- Strategies based on the UN declaration to address gender gaps.
- Focus on gender expertise, research, and collaboration with other organizations for gender inclusivity.
3. Health Standards Organization's participation in the 50-30 Challenge (HSO, 2024; SCC, 2024A):
- Goals for gender parity (50%) and significant representation of underrepresented groups (30%).
Commitment to Accessibility (e.g., ASC)
- ASC's "Nothing Without Us" Commitment (ASC, 2022):
- Involvement of people with disabilities in all stages of ASC's work.
- Goals to achieve a Canada without barriers by 2040.
- This means that people with disabilities from diverse disability communities and their allies are involved in all stages of ASC’s work, including:

- prioritizing research areas
- serving as members of technical committees
- serving as researchers and participants in our research projects
